'He had something different': Yaya Toure once named best player he ever played with – not Lionel Messi

"Messi was top, Iniesta was top, Xavi was great. But Iniesta had something different because he's a midfielder. Playing with him... wow, it's something else," Yaya Toure once told Goal when asked about the best player he had ever played with.

"I learned more about technical ability and seeing things, checking my shoulder, like you [refers to Declan Rice] said, because me, before, I was straight: get the ball, turn, push, boom. But when I came to England, I did that because I could check my shoulders; after, I could think, and turn, and run," the Ivorian explained.

Yaya Toure made 81 appearances alongside Andres Iniesta at Barcelona. The two midfielders won seven trophies together, including the 2008/09 Champions League title.
