Andreas Christensen’s Barcelona Future Hangs in Balance as Contract Nears End
November 13, 2025 – Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has expressed uncertainty about his future with the club, as his current contract is set to expire in June 2026. The 29-year-old Danish international, who joined the Catalan giants on a free transfer from Chelsea in 2022, remains focused on his performance despite ongoing injury challenges. In a recent interview, Christensen stated, “I hope everything works out at Barcelona. I have no plan B,” emphasizing his commitment while leaving contract negotiations to his agents.

Since arriving at Camp Nou, Christensen has made 90 appearances, contributing to two La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey. However, injuries limited him to just six outings last season, raising questions about his long-term role. This season, he has featured in 10 matches under manager Hansi Flick, showing signs of recovery. Barcelona’s financial constraints have delayed renewal discussions, and with pre-contract offers possible from January 2026, the club faces pressure to secure the versatile defender.

Christensen, a former Chelsea Champions League winner, hopes to remain with Barcelona, but his fitness will be key. The club’s management is expected to assess his form before committing to a new deal.
