Al Rayyan Secures Star Forward Roger Guedes with Contract Extension Until 2027

Al Rayyan SC has activated a clause to extend the contract of Brazilian forward Roger Guedes until June 2027, reinforcing their commitment to the 29-year-old attacker amid growing interest from other clubs.

The Qatari side exercised an automatic renewal option in Guedes' original deal, which was set to expire in 2026, including a salary increase. The move comes ahead of the winter transfer window and aims to retain one of their key players for upcoming campaigns in the Qatar Stars League and AFC Champions League Elite.

Since joining Al Rayyan from Corinthians in August 2023, Guedes has been prolific, contributing to over 75 goals in 78 appearances across all competitions. In the current 2025/26 season, he has already notched around 14 goals and several assists in limited games, maintaining his status as one of Asia's top scorers.

Club officials view Guedes as central to their ambitious project, with reports indicating ongoing discussions for an even longer-term deal. This extension effectively wards off potential suitors, including teams from Saudi Arabia and Brazil, who had shown interest earlier in 2025.

Al Rayyan's decision underscores their strategy to build a competitive squad capable of challenging domestically and continentally, with Guedes remaining the cornerstone of their attacking line.
