The award, presented at a ceremony in Doha, Qatar, on December 16, recognizes outstanding performances from August 2024 to August 2025. Dembélé's triumph was fueled by his pivotal role in PSG's historic season, where the club secured a treble including their first-ever UEFA Champions League title, alongside Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France. He contributed 35 goals across all competitions, thriving in a central striking role under manager Luis Enrique.PSG dominated the men's honors, with Luis Enrique named Best Men's Coach and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma earning Best Men's Goalkeeper. The Best FIFA Men's 11 featured six PSG players, including Dembélé, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, and others like Virgil van Dijk, Jude Bellingham, and Yamal.

In the women's category, Barcelona's Aitana Bonmatí won her third consecutive Best FIFA Women's Player award. Other notable winners included Santiago Montiel for the Puskás Award for the best goal.Dembélé becomes the first French player to win The Best FIFA Men's Player award, joining an elite group that has previously included legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in achieving both FIFA's top prize and the Ballon d'Or in the same year.
