Involved in Argument with Coach, Real Madrid Legend Officially Terminated by Fluminense Contract
Real Madrid
legend Marcelo has had his contract with Fluminense terminated after he was involved in a clash with the coach, Mano Menezes, on the sidelines.
Fluminense, who are five-time league champions in their native Brazil, faced Gremio in a league match on Saturday, and played out a 2-2 draw.
Marcelo came on as a substitute for his boyhood team and was preparing to come on in the second half, and was seen receiving instructions from Menezes as the pair waited for the right moment to make a substitution.
However, in one incident, Marcelo was seen shaking his head when receiving instructions, leading Menezes to push the 36-year-old and question his response.

The Beginning of Genesis
Marcelo was again seen shaking his head, with Menezes then pushing him back to the bench despite the player's protests.
The camera then pans to Marcelo sitting on the bench and wearing a glove, looking confused as there is a wrong number on the scoreboard.
To make matters worse for Fluminense, they conceded a penalty in the 99th minute of added time, with Reinaldo Manoel da Silva converting from the spot to earn his side a 2-2 draw.

Terminated Contract
Shortly after the incident, the Brazilian giants confirmed that Marcelo's contract had been terminated.
"Fluminense FC and Marcelo Vieira announce the termination of the contract by mutual agreement between both parties," read the club's official statement.
"The institutional and emotional relationship between Fluminense and Marcelo continues to be maintained. The athlete's name was recently immortalized in the stadium at the Xerem training center.
"Fluminense thanks Marcelo and will continue, as always, to support his success in all his challenges."

Back to the Boyhood Club
Marcelo, who started his career at Fluminense, returned to the Brazilian team in February 2023 after suddenly terminating his contract and leaving Greek club Olympiakos after just five months.
The Brazilian icon spent 15 incredible years at Real Madrid, winning five Champions Leagues and six La Liga titles in his 546 appearances for the club.
