West Ham Lost Its Way

West Ham started the 2024/2025 season with a new plan. Julen Lopetegui was trusted to be the coach. In the transfer market, West Ham also spent more than €144 million to buy new players.
West Ham's performance was not very encouraging in the 2023/2024 season. They finished in 9th place in the final standings. David Moyes who acted as manager had to lose his position because of that situation.
After ousting Moyes, West Ham appointed Lopetegui as their new manager. The Hammers hope the Spaniard can bring better fortunes.
Lopetegui bought several important players in the transfer market. Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, and Luis Guilherme with a large budget.

West Ham Are Trapped
West Ham have played 10 games in the 2024/2025 season. However, their achievements are far from expectations. The Hammers are in 14th place in the standings, with 11 points. They have suffered five defeats and have conceded 19 goals.
"West Ham this season are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, you don't know which is which and that's the problem," English football pundit Chris Sutton told BBC Sport .
According to Chris Sutton, the results and position in the standings are proof that West Ham are now losing their way. Lopetegui has not brought positive changes compared to the Moyes era. He needs time, something he may not get.
"He needs time, but you don't really know what's needed and he's spent a lot of money," added Chris Sutton.

David Moyes' message to West Ham
David Moyes has advised West Ham not to rush into a decision on Lopetegui's future. David Moyes wants the club to understand why the team has not performed to expectations.
The manager could be the root of West Ham's problems at the start of the 2024/2025 season. However, David Moyes said the players also need to take responsibility to be able to move the team in a better direction.
"I just think the manager needs to be given a chance, a bit of time to settle down. Sometimes players need to perform, they need to step up and show what they are about," said David Moyes.
