Nübel's Bayern Salary at €11 Million Poses Major Transfer Hurdle; Contract Termination Possible

Nübel's Bayern Salary at €11 Million Poses Major Transfer Hurdle; Contract Termination Possible
November 5 – According to a latest report by Tobias Altschäffl, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of German outlet *Bild*, VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nübel has performed excellently this season and earned high praise from coach Sebastian Hoeneß.

"Alex is extremely focused and in top form. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga and has all the qualities to be an outstanding keeper. That’s a great thing for us."

However, the goalkeeper's career is at a standstill, especially since his loan deal expires next summer. At that point, Nübel will have to return to Bayern Munich, where his contract runs until 2029.

At Bayern, he is said to earn a massive salary of nearly €11 million per year. If Manuel Neuer (39) continues at the club next season – which currently appears likely – Nübel’s contract could be terminated.

In that scenario, Nübel would receive a substantial termination fee, but he would have to accept a significant pay cut at any new club.

Stuttgart would likely struggle to afford Nübel’s wages. During his loan spell, Bayern reportedly covered two-thirds of his salary. Additionally, Stuttgart already have their designated No. 1, Dennis Seimen (19), currently on loan at Paderborn. Stuttgart are also considering bringing in an experienced backup goalkeeper.

In fact, Nübel is likely the second-highest-paid goalkeeper in the Bundesliga after Neuer. Even if he were willing to take a 50% pay cut, finding a place at a top German club would be challenging. Salaries at this level are typically only seen in England.

Negotiations with Bayern Munich are expected to begin in the spring. The goalkeeper is eager to understand his prospects in Munich.
