Paris Saint-Germain Official Statement: Accuses Mbappé of Concealing Non-Renewal & Disregarding Club Finances, Claims €440 Million in Damages

November 18 – According to reports from French media outlets including *L'Équipe* and RMC, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain issued a strongly worded statement on Monday, directly targeting Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé.
Following a hearing at the Labor Arbitration Court attended by both parties, PSG – entangled in a legal dispute that could potentially result in losses amounting to hundreds of millions of euros – not only reiterated its refusal to compromise with its former star but also accused him of harming the club's interests.
After a full-day hearing at the Paris Labor Arbitration Council, the legal battle between Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain took a new turn – representatives from both sides engaged in a fierce debate in court. With no settlement reached, the club and the French star must now await a judicial ruling on December 16. Mbappé's side is claiming €253 million in compensation, while PSG has counter-sued, demanding €440 million in damages. Shortly after the hearing concluded, PSG released an official statement targeting the 26-year-old forward.
Below is the official announcement issued by PSG through media outlets such as AFP:
"The club must reiterate that, in order to uphold the necessary relationship of trust between the team and its players, we have spent over a year exhausting all avenues to seek an amicable solution and move all parties forward. Several institutions involved in this dispute have advocated for a settlement, and the club has consistently acted in good faith to facilitate this. Despite our repeated efforts, Mr. Mbappé has continuously seized every opportunity to attack the club, including the lawsuit initiated today – a regrettable situation for both the player himself and French football."
After denying any harassment of Mbappé between 2017 and 2024, Paris Saint-Germain continued to defend its position regarding the so-called "tacit agreement between the player and the club concerning unpaid bonuses." Although Mbappé's camp insists on payment, the newly crowned Champions League winner remains confident in the legality and reasonableness of its stance.
"Before the arbitration tribunal, the club presented evidence demonstrating the player's bad faith – for nearly eleven months, from July 2022 to June 2023, he consistently concealed his decision not to renew his contract, depriving the club of any possibility of transfer operations," PSG further stated in its declaration regarding the legal proceedings. "The player subsequently denied the agreement reached with the club in August 2023, which explicitly stipulated a salary reduction should he decide to leave on a free transfer, thereby safeguarding the club's financial stability following substantial investments."
"This concealment, coupled with the denial of this clear and well-documented agreement, has caused significant losses to Paris Saint-Germain. The club hopes the relevant authorities will recognize these damages."
If the ruling favors Mbappé, PSG could face substantial financial losses. Eager to conclude this legal dispute, the club now aims to focus on its 2025-2026 campaign but has made it clear that it will not show weakness toward its former player.
"Paris Saint-Germain will continue to firmly defend its rights. This matter fundamentally concerns integrity, honor, upholding values, and respect for the Parisian club and its fans," the current Ligue 1 leaders concluded. "In the meantime, the club is building on the momentum of the most successful season in its history, founded on unity, hard work, team spirit, and the principle that the club's interests outweigh those of any individual."
